Our Story

We were founded in 1995, but our story really begins in the 80's. After immigrating to the US from Dominican Republic, Guillermo Reyes began working in a lens factory pushing carts from one station to another. During his lunch breaks, Guillermo would talk to the different technicians and learn about their jobs.  He eventually worked his way up to technician, then getting his license and becoming a Licensed Optician.

After partnering to other Optical practices in New York Guillermo took what he learned from these ventures and opened his own practice on Burnside Ave in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx in March of 1998.  He also bought an existing practice on 207th in Inwood, NY.  He has always been determined to provide the best service to the people of his neighborhood.

We're a family business, and have had over 10 family members work at a Reyes Optical.  Remembering his own beginnings Guillermo has helped train a lot of the the technicians that work in NY today. Before Guillermo took over 207 Optica was founded by a fellow Dominican Optician who trained under Guillermo. Today, under the leadership his duaghter, Dr. Carolina Reyes, 207 Optica, continues its long standing family tradition.
